We are a mountain and ski guiding company based in Wanaka, New Zealand. We offer our services in mountaineering, skiing and rock-climbing in the Southern Alps, all year round following the seasons. The team of Summit Explorers mountain guides are fully certified with the high standard international IFMGA or are part of the New Zealand Mountain Guide Association.
We are specialised in providing customised trips to fulfill any climbing or skiing desire according to the skills and abilities of our clients and we are focused on building a strong mountain guides / clients relationship!

Our Mountain Guiding Vision
We started our mountain guiding company with one vision in mind, that of creating a sustainable partnership between our clients and mountain guides. To build a working bond based upon trust and commitment to each other and a lifelong climbing relationship.
With our extensive knowledge, decades of experience of mountain guiding and our high safety approach, we are devoted to guiding you through your climbing or skiing journey, regardless of your experience, skills or abilities.
The Southern Alps are a vast mountain range stretching along the South Island, providing a unique playground for the climber and skier who are seeking amazing adventures. There are plenty of peaks to climb and snow lines to ski… we are only limited by our imagination.

Thomas is extremely professional. He knows what he is doing. I wish I had his skills up the mountain. The first couple of days we got to know each other and once we clicked it was all good. I had some problems adjusting the first days and he was very patient (although I was feeling embarrassed). The last days I caught up and we had fun up there. After each day, we would talk about what I did well and what I could improve and they were extremely valuable conversations.
